I had the opportunity to see a very entertaining show, from a group of very talented people. I can’t say that I was too familiar with all those involved, but I was impressed. Viva Le Fox was energetic and rocking, Rachel Brooke’s beautiful and powerful voice shined, and Sean Wheeler & Zander Schloss careened from deep and introspective to raucous sideshow and back again. Wheeler’s Tom-Waits-esque, carnival-barker persona was grand, but it was Zander Schloss’s soulful renditions of the quieter songs, that truly won me over.
What really made the show was the way that all the members flowed in and out of the mix. Often there didn’t seem to be a distinct line between which band was playing.
